Close examination of the Queens column suggests that it is neither from the Temple of Artemis nor probably from its temenos. The number of drums, the different color of the drums, the placement of the rectangular cut in the middle drum, the fact that the capital was carved from a single drum, the height of the column and its diameter together clearly indicate that the Queens column cannot be from the Temple of Artemis.

On the basis of comparison to other columns and capitals, as well as consultation with scholars who have extensively worked on the architecture of Jerash¹, the column is probably 2nd century AD in date. We are still trying to pinpoint the original context of this column. If we are able to identify the original location of the column, this information will be updated.
